Academic Life at UWC

Our world is dealing with urgent issues: from climatebreakdown to social injustice, global conflict andmore. With a unique focus on peace andsustainability, our different approach to learningcurricula help young people to develop the skills thatare needed to face the challenges of our time.

CAS at UWC

All students at UWC complete a co-curricularprogramme called Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) - an integral part of the academically-rigorousInternational Baccalaureate (IB). The CAS programme ensures our education modelgoes beyond just academia. Students have theopportunity to connect with their classmates byparticipating in a range of exciting activities in theareas of arts, sports, and community service.

Life after UWC

Being part of the UWC community definitely does notend after your two years studying at UWC. Yourunique UWC education will shape and form you forthe rest of your life, whether that be through furtherstudies you choose to take, causes that inspire you orsharing special memories and experiences with aglobal community of more than 60,000 alumni.

Residential Life at UWC

At most UWC schools, you will share a room with a couple of students fromother countries. Your room will usually be part of a larger residence orboarding house, which is shared with other students. Living in the boardinghouse, there are houseparents, who are either teachers or staff members andare there to support you, so that you can adapt and thrive at UWC.

Impact Study

UWC Mostar has been an IB School since September 2006. It is registered as a high school in Bosnia and Herzegovina and offers a two-year academic program for high school students aged 16-19 (final two years of secondary education).

Knjiga Studija Utjecaja

The United World College in Mostar (UWC Mostar), Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is part of the broader UWC movement, founded in 1962, following the concept of the German educationalist Kurt Hahn, who believed that much could be done to overcome religious, cultural and racial misunderstanding and avoid conflict if young people from all over the world could be brought together.

UWC Mostar Facts and Figures

Throughout the 1990’s the College (and other United World Colleges) recruited and funded students from all parts of the now bitterly disintegrating Yugoslavia, including individuals from refugee camps in Slovenia and Croatia.
