Teachers for Future

Implemented by UWC Mostar's Center for Professional Development of Teachers, the "Teachers for Future" program is a professional development initiative for biology, chemistry, and physics teachers.
The project is financially supported by the Schmitz Foundation and the invitation to participate was open to all high schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and each school nominated three teachers (subject: biology, chemistry, and physics).
A total of 25 schools are selected to participate in the program. Selection was based on geographical diversity, with an emphasis on including schools from smaller towns that had not previously participated in the TFF project (2020/2021).

The aim of the project “Teachers for future 2” is to further develop a professional development programme for high-school teachers with a focus on natural sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Teachers for Future program implemented in the school year 2021-2022 focused on teachers of Mathematics, English language, and Arts.

The Teachers for Future 2 program focuses on teachers of Chemistry, Biology, and Physics throughout the 2024/2025 school year.

45 teachers are selected from local public schools across all regions and provinces of BiH to participate in this training program. They will learn new educational approaches and jointly develop pedagogical materials in their subjects.  Throughout the school year, they will be able to test new teaching and learning practices and assess the learning outcomes for their students.

The Professional Development program includes three modules, each one consisting of 4 parts: an online introductory workshop, three-day in-person training in Mostar, an online wrap-up/evaluation workshop, and a dissemination webinar. All three modules will be dedicated to the three selected subjects respectfully.

The modules are designed to be highly intensive and participatory, with the maximum opportunity for dialogue, debate, and analysis in seminar style to provide participants with concrete ideas to take back into the classroom.
