UWC makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.
When I look back at my years with UWC Mostar, I always vividly recall what a privilege it was to be an assistant to such a great man and a great mentor like David Sutcliffe. When David became the Chair of the Board, he approached the Head of our college and asked if I could be his assistant. Those were very difficult years in Mostar when we were trying to find the ways to move from the idea of a pilot project to becoming a school that is fully integrated into the life of the City of Mostar and a school that is here to stay. We worked really hard but still I am glad that I was given the task and the opportunity to work and learn from him. I remember how amazed I was every time David would speak during the Board meetings. All of his speeches and comments were focused, powerful and seemed thoroughly prepared, while they were expressions of his thoughts and opinions in that very moment. I am extremely grateful for all his kindness and support, for everything he did for all of us in Mostar. It is now a big task ahead of us to keep the vision of David Sutcliffe alive.
